Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen The Thao extended New Year wishes to Catholic dignitaries and followers in the capital city during his post-Tet visit to the Hanoi Archbishop Office on February 26.
The Chairman lauded the significant achievements and contributions of Cardinal Nguyen Van Nhon and all Catholic followers to the city over the past year.
The Chairman said he hopes the Catholic community will work collectively to develop a civilised and modern Hanoi and reduce poverty.
In return, the Cardinal thanked the municipal authorities for creating favourable conditions for local Catholics.
He said he is honoured to be one of 20 Cardinals around the world appointed by Pope Francis in 2014, saying he will do his utmost to serve the Vietnamese Catholic community.-VNA
