HCM City (VNA) – The classical music concert Luminous Night will beheld at the HCM City Conservatory of Music on December 19 to welcome Christmas.
The concert will featureleading Vietnamese vocal soloists, including Meritorious Artist and tenor TaMinh Tam, and soprano Pham Khanh Ngoc, runner-up at the 2016 InternationalVocal Competition SLO-ASEAN in Singapore.
Pianists Phuong Hanh andPhong Lan and flutist Viet Tu will accompany the vocalists during the show.
The performance willhighlight Saigon Choir, comprising over 50 emerging classical singers andperformers, which has earned fame through concerts such as A Broadway Journey, InternationalVoices in collaboration with Yale Alumni Chorus and the opera Carmen.
The programme willinclude excerpts from Handel’s oratorio Messiah, such as Hallelujah, ForUnto Us A Child Is Born and The Trumpet Shall Sound.
Messiah is an English-language oratorio composed in1741. It was first performed in 1742 and has become one of the most frequentlyperformed works during the Christmas season.
The night will continuewith traditional classic carols such as Joy to the World, IHear A Harp Eternal, and We Wish You A Merry Christmas.
The concert will beginat 8 pm at the conservatory’s concert hall.- VNA
