A project responding to the threat of climate change in Vietnam’s forests and deltas was launched on January 16 in Giao Thuy district of the northern province of Nam Dinh.

The project was implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in coordination with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Nam Dinh provincial People’s Committee.

It is aiming to help achieve national sustainable economic development, lower emissions and better climate change preparedness through land planning, forest and natural resources management and local communities’ involvement.

USAID Director in Vietnam Joakim Parker said the 26 million USD project would promote the Vietnam- US comprehensive partnership by assisting Vietnamese people in the Red River Delta to reverse environmental degradation and adapt to the changing climate.-VNA
