Hanoi (VNA) – A Vietnam Airlines flight brought home nearly 350 Vietnamese citizens from over 30 countries in the Europe, Africa and South America on December 15-16 thanks to concerted efforts from Vietnamese missions and local authorities.
On board the flight were children under 18, the elderly, people with illnesses, students who finished their study but without accommodation, guest workers whose visas and labour contracts had expired and those in extremely difficult circumstances.
The Vietnamese missions in the concerned countries coordinated with local authorities to facilitate the citizens’ travel to an airport in Paris for the rescue flight. The Embassy of Vietnam in France sent staff to help them complete pre-departure procedures before boarding.
All crew members and passengers complied with in-flight preventive measures against the COVID-19. They were given medical checkups and put under quarantine upon arrival at Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
More flights will be arranged to fly home Vietnamese citizens in the future, depending on citizens’ request, the COVID-19 pandemic situation and the nation’s quarantine capacity./.
