Deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Education and Communication Pham Van Linh suggested Press Trust of India (PTI) soon open a representative office in Vietnam to increase its coverage of the country in a wide-ranging manner.
Linh led an interdisciplinary working group in charge of communication services for foreign readers on a working visit to India. The officials had a working session with PTI, India’s largest and oldest news agency, on November 21.
Shakeel Ahmed, General Manager for administration of PTI, said established in 1947, the agency currently employs 500 full-time journalists and other 500 part-time reporters covering almost all localities across India.
PTI is keen on further beefing up partnership with other news agencies across the globe, including the Vietnam News Agency, the PTI senior official said.
Linh spoke highly of PTI’s engagement in spreading news about Vietnam and the activities of Vietnamese leaders during their visits to India.
He proposed PTI voice support for Vietnam in the East Sea issue and call parties concerned to abide by international law.
Later the same day, Linh visited Vietnamese students and Buddhist monks and nuns at Delhi University, and the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnam News Agency’s representative office in New Delhi.-VNA
