The French Communist Party will promote the important role of its representatives at all levels to further tighten traditional solidarity, friendship and cooperation with the Communist Party of Vietnam, contributing to friendly and cooperative ties between the two States and their localities and businesses.
National Secretary of the French Communist Party Pierre Laurent made this remark during a meeting with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in Hanoi on April 22.
Laurent expressed his pleasure on visiting Vietnam for the first time and witnessing the Vietnamese people’s multifaceted achievements during their doi moi (renewal) process and national construction and development under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
He described the achievements as a great encouragement for the French Communist Party and an important contribution to the cause of communists and revolutionary forces around the world who are struggling for peace, democracy, social progress and socialism.
He expressed a strong wish that the Communist Party and people of Vietnam would successfully implement the 11 th Party Congress Resolution and obtain greater achievements in national construction and development.
He briefed General Secretary Trong on the situations of his Party and leftists in Europe and gave an assessment of recent developments in France and regions in the world.
Party General Secretary Trong, who is also National Assembly Chairman, congratulated Laurent on his election as National Secretary of the French Communist Party and President of the European Left Party and the French Communist Party on its 90 th anniversary.
He affirmed that with the success of the 11 th Party Congress, the Communist Party and people of Vietnam will continue to consistently follow the road of building socialism, striving for successfully implementing the goal of making Vietnam a powerful country with rich people and an equal, democratic, and civilised society.
Earlier, a delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam led by Truong Tan Sang, Politburo member and permanent member of the CPV Central Committee Secretariat, held talks with the French Communist Party delegation.
While in Vietnam , the French Communist Party delegation paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his Mausoleum and visited his former workplace and home.
The delegation also made field trips to Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hanoi and the provinces of Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam and Quang Ninh./.
