Con Dao plans to become spiritual, eco-tourism centre

Con Dao Island in the central province of Ba Ria - Vung Tau aims to become an international-standard spiritual and eco-tourism centre by 2030, according to a newly approved plan to develop the island.
Con Dao Island in the central province of Ba Ria - Vung Tau aims tobecome an international-standard spiritual and eco-tourism centre by2030, according to a newly approved plan to develop the island.

Underthe plan, the island will develop many areas, including Con Son Town,France Town in Con Son Town, a spiritual area, Ben Dam sea station, anatural beach, the Con Dao mountainous area and a system of smallislands.

Tours connecting the main island to nearby sites andtours linking Con Dao Island to other provinces and cities will beorganised.

Sitting 185 kilometres from Vung Tau city and 230kilometres from Ho Chi Minh City, Con Dao plays a significant role insocio-economic, defence and security development in the country’ssouthern seas and islands.

It is also home to important tangibleand intangible national cultural heritages presenting substantialpotential to develop various forms of tourism such as ecological andspiritual tourism.-VNA

“Xuan Que Huong” (Homeland Spring), the biggest cultural event for overseas Vietnamese (OVs) when the Lunar New Year (Tet) come, has been held by the Vietnamese Embassies in India, the Republic of Korea (RoK) and Japan and the Consulate General in Hong Kong (China) to bring the Tet atmosphere to Vietnamese expats.
