Conference on statistical physics opens in Hanoi

An international conference on frustrated spin systems, cold atoms and nano materials began in Hanoi on July 14, attracting close to 100 Vietnamese and overseas scientists and physicists.
An international conference on frustrated spin systems, cold atoms andnano materials began in Hanoi on July 14, attracting close to 100Vietnamese and overseas scientists and physicists.

Co-organised by the Institute of Physics under the Vietnam Academy ofScience and Technology and France’s Cergy-Pontoise University, thethree-day conference provides an excellent opportunity for Vietnameseand international physicists to discuss cold atoms and nano materials.

It is also a preparatory activity for theforthcoming 24th World Conference on Statistical Physics to be held inCairns, Australia, next month.

More than 60scientific reports will be presented to the conference, which will endon July 16./.

Rare green sea turtle released back into the wild in Quang Tri

The green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas), locally known as vich, is a rare and protected species under Vietnamese law. It is also listed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as a species of conservation concern and is included in the appendices of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
