Congratulations come to newly-elected Vietnamese leaders

Leaders of countries around the world have sent messages and letters of congratulations and made phone calls to newly-elected Vietnamese leaders, including State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

Hanoi (VNA) –Leaders of countries around the world have sent messages and letters ofcongratulations and made phone calls to newly-elected Vietnamese leaders,including State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh andNational Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

In his congratulatory letter and phone call to President Phuc, GeneralSecretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of LaosThounglun Sisolith stressed that Phuc’s election as State President reflectedthe high trust of the Party, State and people of Vietnam.

TheLao leader believed that, withhis capacity, prestige and experience, President Phuc and the new leadership willcontinue to bring Vietnam to greater achievements, thus successfully implementingthe Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

President Phuc thankedthe Lao leader for sending congratulations and making the phone call, expressinghis wish to continue working closely with Thounglun Sisolith in his newposition to foster the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensivecooperation between Vietnam and Laos. On this occasion, President Phuc onceagain congratulated Laos on successfully organising the 11th National Congress ofthe LPRP and the 9th National Assembly elections, and Thounglun Sisolith on hiselection as LPRP General Secretary and President of Laos.

The two leaders affirmedthat the Party, State and people of the two countries always attach greatimportance and give top priority to promoting the special bilateral relations.They highly appreciated the two countries’ efforts to keep cooperation momentumamid the COVID-19 pandemic by maintaining high-level visits and meetings andpromoting the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation mechanisms.

Thounglun Sisolith alsospoke highly of the completed construction on schedule of the Lao NationalAssembly building - a special and meaningful gift of the Party, State andpeople of Vietnam - to serve the first session of the 9th National Assembly.

The leaders agreedthat in the coming time, the two sides should continue their coordination towell implement high-level agreements, constantly deepening the bilateralcooperation for practical benefits of the two countries’ people. Both sidesalso agreed to coordinate in increasing the education of young generations onthe great special relationship between Vietnam and Laos, which has beennurtured by generations of leaders and people of the two countries.

President Phuc hopedthat the Lao leader would soon pay a visit to Vietnam and the latter also invitedthe Vietnamese leader to visit Laos at an appropriate time.

He also sent the bestwishes to the Lao leaders and people on the occasion of the Lao traditional NewYear (Bunpimay).

On the same day, in hiscongratulatory letter sent to PM Pham Minh Chinh, Lao PM Phankham Viphavanh wrotethat the election of Chinh as Prime Minister of Vietnam demonstrates theconfidence of the Party, the Government and the people of Vietnam in his role,capacity and vision in leading the country to constant development andprosperity.

“I will do my best together with you to fruitfully develop the great friendship,special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties,States and people of our two countries, for the sake of our people as well asfor regional and international peace, stability, development and cooperation,”he stressed.

Also on April 5,Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a message of congratulations to PresidentNguyen Xuan Phuc, noting the positive growth of the bilateral ties over thepast year.

The Chinese leader affirmedthat he attaches importance to the development of China-Vietnam relations, and isready to make efforts to promote the comprehensive strategic cooperativepartnership between the two nations to obtain new and greater achievements,bringing benefits to both countries and their people.

In his congratulatorymessage, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang emphasised that China and Vietnam are twofriendly neighbours and important cooperation partners. He affirmed that hewould actively build a win-win cooperation complexion, thus contributing to thefriendly neighbourliness and comprehensive cooperation between China andVietnam.

The same day, President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) and PrimeMinister Samdech Techo Hun Sen also sent a congratulatory letter to and made aphone call to President Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

During the phone call, Hun Sen spoke highly of Vietnam’s impressiveachievements in  socio-economicdevelopment and international integration cause and in response to the COVID-19pandemic. He expressed his belief that in the new position, President Phuc willcontinue making great contributions to the renewal and national developmentcause, thereby continuously enhancing the country’s international position.

President Phuc affirmed that the Vietnamese Party, State and people always hope tocontinuously consolidate the good neighbourliness, traditional friendship andcomprehensive cooperation between the two countries. He also expressed hisbelief that under the sound leadership of PM Hun Sen, Cambodia willsuccessfully put the pandemic under control, soon stabilise and recoverstrongly.

Having been delighted at the development in bilateral relations, especiallytwo-way trade, the two leaders affirmed their commitments to maintaininghigh-level meetings and suitable cooperative mechanisms. They also agreed tointensify collaboration in defence and security and increase the efficiency ofborderline management, boost investment and transport connectivity, educationand training and people-to-people exchanges.

PM Hun Sen thanked the Vietnamese Government and people for the donation of 200,000USD to support Cambodia’s fight against the pandemic. President Phuc showed hishope that the Cambodian Government will continue caring for and creatingfavourable conditions for Vietnamese Cambodians living, studying and working inCambodia.

The Cambodian PM also sent a congratulatory letter to newly-elected VietnamesePM Pham Minh Chinh, in which he affirmed his willingness to closely coordinatewith his Vietnamese counterpart to deepen the two countries’ long-lastingrelations on the principles of good neighbourliness, traditional friendship,mutual understanding and enhancing multi-faceted cooperation.

He expressed his belief that with the joint efforts and determination tocooperate closely in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks, Cambodia andVietnam can overcome unprecedented challenges caused by the pandemic, for theinterests of the two nations, for peace, stability, sustainable development andprosperity in the region and the world.

In his congratulatory message sent to President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, RussianPresident Vladimir Putin stressed that the result of ballot casting at theNational Assembly demonstrated the great prestige that the Vietnamese leader deservesto receive during the years of working in noble state positions.

Confirming that the Russia-Vietnam relationship relies on the foundation oflong-lasting tradition of friendship and mutual respect, Putin said with thejoint efforts, both sides will continue developing the bilateral strategicpartnership and win-win cooperation in different fields, thus meeting basicinterests of the Russian and Vietnamese people, and helping consolidatestability and security in the Asia-Pacific region.

On the same day, Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide extendedcongratulations to President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and PM Pham Minh Chinh.

Italian President Sergio Matterella also sent greetings to President NguyenXuan Phuc, while Italian Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Roberto Fico cableda congratulatory message to NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue./.
