Hanoi (VNA) – Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong on November 18 sent a message of congratulations to Nandasena Gotabaya Rajapaksa on his election as President of Sri Lanka.
Vietnam and Sri Lanka established diplomatic relations in 1970. The two countries are targeting 1 billion USD in two-way trade in 2020./.
Cooperation in religion between Vietnam and Sri Lanka has contributed to the religious work in each country and to stepping up people-to-people diplomacy and tightening the bilateral traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation.
Vietnam and Sri Lanka should promote cooperation in various sectors, including culture, thus enhancing cultural exchanges between the two nations, said a Sri Lankan expert.
