COVID-19: 6,957 cases added to national tally

Vietnam recorded 6,957 COVID-19 infections, including 16 imported cases, in the past 24 hours to 5pm on October 1, according to the Ministry of Health.

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam recorded 6,957 COVID-19 infections, including 16 imported cases, in the past 24 hours to 5pm on October 1, according to the Ministry of Health.

Ho Chi Minh City, the country’s current largest pandemic hotspot, continued to report the highest number of infections with 3,670 cases. It was followed by neighbouring Binh Duong province with 1,787 cases, Dong Nai 735, An Giang 116, and Long An 107. The capital city of Hanoi reported eight cases.

The country has to date logged 797,712 COVID-19 cases.

A total of 27,250 patients were given the all-clear on October 1, raising the number of recoveries to 636,081.

Meanwhile, 136 deaths related to COVID-19 were announced on the day, raising the death toll to 19,437.

As of the end of September 30, over 42.88 million people had been vaccinated with at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccines, with more than 9.8 million already receiving full two shots./.
