COVID-19: New cases on December 7 reach 13,840

Vietnam recorded 13,840 cases of COVID-19 in 59 localities during 24 hours from 4pm December 6 to 4pm December 7, including 5 imported cases, according to the Ministry of Health.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam recorded 13,840cases of COVID-19 in 59 localities during 24 hours from 4pm December 6 to 4pm December7, including 5 imported cases, according to the Ministry of Health. 

Ho Chi Minh City continued to record thehighest number of infections with 965, followed by Can Tho with 898 and Tay Ninh with869.

The national caseload reached 1,337,523.

According to the Ministry of Health’s report, 7,019 patientsnationwide are in serious conditions, with 770 requiring invasiveventilation and 15 on life support (ECMO).

On the day, the country saw 217 deaths from thedisease. The death toll now hits 26,700.

A further 1,249 patients were given the all-clear, taking the total number ofrecoveries to 1,011,656.

By December 6, the country had injected over 128.67 million dosesof vaccines to date, with more than 55.01 million people now fullyinoculated./.

Hanoi steps up dengue prevention as cases rise

According to the Hanoi Centre for Disease Control (CDC), 316 dengue cases were recorded across 74 communes and wards in the city from August 7-14, up 81 from the previous week. Eleven new outbreaks were also reported, bringing the total number since the beginning of 2026 to 63, with 24 still active.
