COVID-19: No new cases reported over past 12 hours

No new cases of COVID-19 were reported for the past 12 hours to 6am May 1, according to the Health Ministry.

Hanoi, (VNA) – No new cases of COVID-19 were reported for the past 12 hours to6am May 1, according to the Health Ministry.

Thenational count remained at 2,928, with 1,584 domestically-infected cases.

Atotal 37,249 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or arrivedfrom pandemic-hit areas are being quarantined nationwide.

Meanwhile,2,516 patients have been given the all-clear, and the death toll remains at 35.

Amongpatients under treatment, 13 have tested negative for the coronavirus once, 15twice and 20 thrice.

An additional 3,420 people received shots ofCOVID-19 vaccine on April 30, raising the total number of vaccinated people to509,855, most of whom work at the frontline in the pandemic fight.

After locally-infected cases were detected in late April,localities around the country are tightening epidemic prevention measures.

Testson Indian experts quarantined in a hotel in the northern province of Yen Baiand a staff member at the hotel, who contracted COVID-19, showed they were infectedwith the virus variant B.1.617.2 nowspreading in India.

The Health Ministry urges all people to strictly follow the5K motto: Khau trang (wearing facemask) – Khu khuan (disinfecting) – Khoang cach(keeping distance) – Khong tap trung (no gathering) – Khai bao y te (Makinghealth declaration), so as to contain the pandemic./.

WHO donates 9,000 rabies vaccine doses to Vietnam’s high-risk provinces

The post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) vaccines, valued at 100,000 USD, were delivered to the Centres for Disease Control (CDC) in the two provinces through coordination with the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (NIHE), the Ministry of Health, and local authorities. The donation was made possible with financial support from Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.

Facing the World to host ENT surgery conference in Hanoi

To be held at 108 Military Central Hospital and Hong Ngoc General Hospital on October 18-19 respectively, the conference “Facing the functional, oncological and aesthetic challenges within the head and neck” will be attended by British and Vietnamese doctors specialising in ENT (ear, nose and throat) and head-neck surgery, plastic and aesthetic surgery, oncology and maxillofacial surgery.
