Organisations and individuals across the nation have actively engaged in the charity project ‘Cow bank’, which aims to provide 10,000 cows for needy people in 28 poor and border districts in 2013-2014.

The Vietnam Red Cross (VRC) received over 20 billion VND (960,000 USD) for the project only at a ceremony to sign a coordination programme in Hanoi on May 6.

Under the programme, the VRC, Vietnam Television and the Border Guard High Command will work together to encourage the public to donate 10,000 cows worth about 100 billion VND to the poor.

They will coordinate with the Ministry of Information and Communication and relevant agencies to launch information campaigns to raise fund for the projects.

Since 2010, the ‘Cow bank’ project, carried out by the VRC, provided 7,028 cows for poor households in 111 districts in 39 provinces nationwide.-VNA
