A Vietnamese rescue team promptly took an injured crewman on board the Panama-flagged Union Harvest vessel to Tin Duc hospital in the southern coastal city of Nha Trang for treatment on May 6.
On May 5, the Nha Trang coastal information station was informed that 170 nautical miles away from Nha Trang, a Union Harvest crewman was hit in the chest by an iron stick, leaving him seriously injured.
It also learned that the 4,774-tonne freight ship and the 19-strong crew were sailing to Singapore .
On receiving the information, a local agency deployed canoe CN02-TSA for rescue activities-VNA
