Hanoi (VNA) – The crop cultivation sector has set the goal of earning nearly 21 billion USD from farm produce export this year.
It was revealed at a conference recently held in Hanoi to review 2018 activities and launch 2019 tasks by the Department of Crop Production under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The sector also targeted increasing production value by nearly 1.78 percent and improving farmers’ income.
Last year, the cultivation production value was estimated at 482 trillion VND (20.9 billion USD), up around 2.52 percent while farm produce value stood at 19.5 billion USD, up 3 percent year-on-year.
Specifically, rice export brought home 3.8 billion USD, marking an 8.5 percent increase in value. Fruit and vegetable shipments went up 8.5 percent in value to 3.8 billion USD.-VNA
