The friendship and solidarity between Cuba and Vietnam have been consolidated and well developed, said the President of the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association, Yolanda Ferrer.

She stated this in a report released at the association’s annual meeting in Havana on April 20.

Ferrer reviewed her organisation’s activities in 2011 and the first quarter of 2012, focusing on the meeting with the Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, during his recent official visit to Cuba .

She thanked the Vietnamese Party, Government and people for their support and solidarity with the Cuban people in their demands for the US to lift its embargo imposed on the Latin American nation and for the release of five Cuban patriots who are currently being unjustly detained in US prisons.

Vietnam’s Ambassador to Cuba, Vu Chi Cong, praised the association’s activities, saying they are evidence of the efforts made to boost the traditional relationship and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, Governments and people.-VNA
