Mexico (VNA) – The talent and personality of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong are a source of inspiration and a bright example for the leaders and people of El Salvador in the nation-building and development process.

So said Vice President of El Salvador Felix Ulloa when attending the ceremony to pay tribute to the deceased at the Vietnamese Embassy in Mexico on July 25.

The official affirmed that under the wise leadership of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the path Vietnam is taking and the achievements Vietnam has made over the years are always a model for development for El Salvador and many other countries around the world.

According to the Vice President, emerging from the ashes of wars, Vietnam has become a strong nation, scoring numerous miracles in economic and social development while raising its role and position on the international arena. This is also part of the legacy that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has left in his leadership roles.

He said El Salvador has also experienced a painful past, particularly in the 1980s when continuous civil wars devastated and exhausted the nation's resources. However, as President Nayib Bukele once said, El Salvador has now been reborn, returning to itself after relentless efforts by the government and people in rebuilding the country. Throughout this process, Vietnam's example of resilience and progress has always been a source of inspiration and motivation for many generations of leaders and people in El Salvador.

Vice President Felix Ulloa noted that this admiration was realised through El Salvador's decision to establish its first embassy in Southeast Asia in Vietnam in 2023, underscoring that the Central American country values the development of relations with Vietnam, a country that El Salvador considers as not only a partner, but also comrade and brother./.
