Hanoi (VNA) - An ASEAN-Venezuela culture exchange day was held in Venezuela from December 11-14, aiming to promote exchange and cooperation between the Latin American country and ASEAN member nations.

Jointly organised by the ASEAN Committee in Caracas (ACC) and the Venezuelan Ministries of Foreign Affairs, and Culture, the event was attended by representatives from the two ministries, and ambassadors and charge d’affairs of Asian countries in Venezuela.

In his speech at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Dao Thanh Chung briefed participants on the development of ASEAN over the last 51 years, while highlighting the role of culture in promoting connectivity among ASEAN member nations, and between ASEAN and other countries.

He affirmed that culture cooperation serves as a bridge to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between Venezuela and ASEAN nations.

Venezuelan Deputy Foreign Minister Ruben Molina lauded the event as an important step to enhance relations between his country and ASEAN.

It helps Venezuelan officials and people understand more about the group, he said.

Many cultural products and foods of Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia were featured at the event.

The Vietnamese Embassy introduced traditional musical instruments and costumes, gemstone paintings and fishes.-VNA
