Da Nang cancels firework shows in respect for late official
The central city of Da Nang will cancel all firework shows in the
city on the occasion of the lunar New Year to show respect to Head of
the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs Nguyen Ba

The municipal People’s Committee announced the decision following the official’s death. The city earlier planned to set off fireworks in three places to usher in the Year of the Goat.
A ceremony to announce Vietnam’s biggest national map made by flowers scheduled for February 14 has also been suspended for the same reason.
Nguyen Ba Thanh, 62, was born in Da Nang’s Hoa Vang district. He served as Chairman of the People’s Committee and Secretary of the Party Committee of the city before becoming the Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs.
He passed away at 13:00 on February 13 in Da Nang due to blood cancer.
The respect paying service will be held as from 14:30 on February 14. The memorial service will be organised at 9:30 on February 16.
Thanh will be laid to rest the same day at his hometown of Hoa Tien Commune, Hoa Vang district, Da Nang city.-VNA
