Hanoi (VNA) – An art project to decorate a 360-metre sea dyke wall with ceramic mosaics is underway in the central city of Da Nang to welcome the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Week.

The mosaics, inspired by drawings by young artists and children, feature the beauty of Da Nang’s landscapes and local people’s lives.

The materials for the mosaics were transported from the pottery villages of Bat Trang in Hanoi and Thanh Ha in nearby Hoi An city.

The APEC Economic Leaders’ Week will bring together leaders and some 10,000 delegates from 21 APEC member economies.

Established in 1989, APEC comprises 21 economies, namely Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, the United States, and Vietnam.

Vietnam joined APEC in 1998, and last hosted the APEC Year in 2006.-VNA
