The programme’s targets are per-capita income of ethnicminorities to increase by at least 1.5 times; provision of essential demandssuch as residential land, housing, water for daily activities, cultivation landand electricity; 100 percent of ethnic minorities participating in healthinsurance; at least 60 percent of households living in disaster-risk areasresettled; and at least 95 percent of ethnic minorities accessed clean water.
To that end, the Central Highlands province will focus onproviding cultivation land, stabilising the life of unplanned migrants,expanding investment in building basic infrastructure to serve production anddaily activities of locals, developing agro-forestry production models thatconform to local customs, and stepping up the organisation of vocationaltraining and healthcare programmes.
According to the provincial Department of Labour, Invalidsand Social Affairs, Dak Nong is home to 40 ethnic groups, including nearly213,000 ethnic minorities, or 31 percent of the locality’s population.
The proportion of poor ethnic minority households is 17.18percent. Average income of ethnic minority households in many localities isequal to 40-50 percent of the country’s average./.
