The Central Highlands province of Dak Nong on April 22 held a working session with representatives from international banks and development partners to call for more financial assistance in building infrastructure.

The banks were the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation.

At the function, provincial officials presented projects in need of investment totalling 4 trillion VND (190.5 million USD).

They include projects providing medical facilities for the Dak Nong General Hospital, public works in Gia Nghia township and a border economic zone in Dak Mil district.

Meanwhile, the bankers suggested Dak Nong define its long-term socio-economic development strategies, put its land to good use and better its investment environment, especially for the private sector.

They also underlined the need to ensure the sustainable development of the bauxite industry while protecting forests and improving the well being of ethnic communities.

Established in 2004, Dak Nong has an area of 651,500 hectares and a population of some 555,000, mostly ethnic minorities.-VNA
