Day of Slavonic Alphabet celebrated in Vietnam

Slavonic Alphabet and the Bulgarian Culture Day in Vietnam.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Vietnam-Bulgaria Friendship Association Nguyen Van Tuan thanked the Bulgarian people for their solidarity and precious support for the Vietnamese people’s struggle for national independence in the past as well as the national construction and development at present.
He stressed that Bulgaria has helped Vietnam train high quality human personnel, many of them are holding important positions in the society.
Bulgarian Charge d’Affaires in Vietnam Slavena Gergova said that the ceremony is an evidence for the friendly and traditional relations between the two peoples.
The Day of Slavonic Alphabet on May 24 is founded to commemorate Bulgarian brothers Cyril and Methodius, who created the first Slavonic alphabet which later became a base for all Slavonic languages.-VNA
