Defence Minister receives Italian guest

Defence Minister, General Phung Quang Thanh on March 8 received Lieutenant General Claudio Debertolis, General Secretary of the Ministry of Defence and Director of National Armaments Directorate of Italy, who is leading a delegation of Italian officers visiting Vietnam.

At the reception, Minister Thanh applauded the delegation’s visit toVietnam , expressing his hope that the two defence ministries willcontinue to strengthen friendship and cooperation with the aim ofbenefiting the Vietnamese and Italian peoples and contributing to peace,stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Claudio Debertolis informed Thanh of working resultsbetween the delegation with Deputy Defence Minister Senior LieutenantGeneral Nguyen Chi Vinh, which focused on discussion of regional andinternational situations and measures to further foster theVietnam-Italy bilateral defence cooperation.

In theframework of the visit, Claudio Debertolis and the delegation paidtribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum.

They also visited the workplace and home of President Ho Chi Minh, alongwith Vietnam Military History Museum and several popular sitesin Hanoi.-VNA

According to historical records, the area once served as an operational base for units of Regiments 609, 66, 24 and 320, as well as staff and logistics agencies of the Central Highlands front (B3) during the 1966–1969 period. Between 2020 and 2025, the corps had already recovered remains from 46 martyrs in the Chu Pa mountain area.
