Jakarta (VNA) - The Danish government is exploringcooperation with the provincial government of Indonesia’s South Sulawesi in themaritime and energy sector.
"We met with Deputy Governor of SouthSulawesi, Agus Arifin Numang, to jointly promote cooperation in maritimeaffairs and renewable energy," said Danish Ambassador to Indonesia CasperKlynge.
Denmark is one of the world’s leading countriesin the development of renewable energy.
South Sulawesi can be a pioneer in thedevelopment of this energy because the region has the potential to develop windenergy, according to the ambassador.
The ambassador noted that Denmark has thelargest maritime companies in the world.
Currently, the cost of transporting containersby sea, from Makassar to Jakarta, is more expensive than the cost oftransportation from Jakarta to Copenhagen, the Danish capital, he said, addingthat it is unreasonable at the big picture.
The Danish government has explored thepossibility of investing in ports and other maritime infrastructure.-VNA
