Lawmakers discussed a wide range of issues of the performance of the national socio-economic development plan in 2012 at their plenary session in Hanoi on October 30.
According to an announcement issued by the National Assembly Office, the discussion, chaired by NA Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, was broadcast live on Vietnam Television (VTV) and Radio Voice of Vietnam (VOV) channels.
As many as 48 deputies from 45 centrally-run cities and provinces took floor dealing with the situation and measures to remove difficulties for businesses and solve stagnant inventories, fluctuations in the prices of petrol, oil and gold, and corruption, waste and weaknesses in public investment management.
The deputies also paid their attention to the implementation of national target programmes, policies to reduce poverty and ensure social security, public health care and hospital overloads, and food hygiene and safety.
At the session, they also talked about a socio-economic development plan for 2013, focusing on overall economic objectives and targets, the restructuring of the credit system, the settlement of bad debts and administrative procedure reforms.
Other issues of the plan, including investment in building new rural areas, salary increase roadmap, issuance of bonds for transport projects as well as State budget allocations were deliberated.
All of these issues will continue to be debated on October 31.-VNA
