Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has emphasised that Vietnam highly valued its relationship with Peru and will continue to focus on boosting ties.
The statement was made during his meeting with Peruvian Prime Minister Oscar Eduardo Valdes Dancuart in Lima on Apr.16.
Hai expressed satisfaction with the progress in the two countries’ relations over the past years.
PM Dancuart said the Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister’s official trip will help strengthen their multifaceted relations in the future.
The two sides agreed that in past years, they had been active members of the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement and worked closely together in the Forum for East Asia- Latin America Cooperation. This historical friendship serves as a solid base to strengthen their relations further.
They also spoke highly of Peruvian President Ollanta Humala’s official trip to Vietnam this year and of the exchange visits between the two countries’ high-ranking officials.
Peru said it will soon officially recognise Vietnam as a market economy and open an embassy in the country.
The two sides emphasised that they will continue to support each other on the international stage.
Hai appreciated the Peruvian government’s support for the two countries’ trade, economic and investment projects in recent years, which have created favourable conditions for their bilateral trade to reach 165 million USD last year from 55.3 million USD in 2006.
He also said that Vietnamese enterprises have been implementing important investment projects in Peru .
Dancuart stressed that Peru ’s government always created favourable conditions for Vietnamese projects in Peru , especially those of PetrolVietnam (PVN) and Viettel which have already been implemented.
On the same day, Hai meet with leaders of the Peruvian Foreign Ministry. They discussed the establishment of Peru ’s diplomatic representative agency in Vietnam and the possibility of Vietnam hosting the Ministerial Forum on Trade and Investment on July 5-7 to boost its trade relations with Latin American countries.
Earlier, Hai headed a Vietnamese high-ranking delegation that paid working visits to some oil industry enterprises in Peru .
He stressed the need for economic cooperation, especially in the oil industry, in order to build the long-lasting relations between Vietnam and Peru suggested the two countries’ oil industries should enhance their cooperative projects.-VNA
