– Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue has handed 89 relief packages, each worth 3 million VND (129 USD), to needy students in the Red River Delta province of Thai Binh.

At a gala held in the province on September 4, the official also handed over 50 million VND to the province’s fund of support for students to continue their schooling.

The event, the second of its kind, aimed to honour poor students with outstanding achievements, and donors who have provided support for local learners.

Since the first held in last year, individual and collective donors have contributed 1.8 billion VND to the construction of seven houses, each worth 100 million VND, and hundreds of relief packages and bikes for local students, said Le Duy Quang, President of the provincial Red Cross Society.
