Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai received the visiting Polish State Secretary for the Economy Adam Szejnfeld in Hanoi on June 16.

The Deputy PM hailed the visit by the delegation of Polish businesspeople, headed up by Adam Szejnfeld, and expressed his pleasure at the fine development of relations between the two countries, not only in training, shipbuilding and mining, but also in energy and oil and gas.

He praised the Polish Government for providing official development assistance (ODA) to the tune of 280 million USD and stated that the Vietnamese government will continue to give guidance on how to use the capital effectively.

Szejnfeld said he was impressed with Vietnam ’s socio-economic development and briefed his host on the outcomes of his meetings with several Vietnamese agencies.

He said that besides their traditional cooperation, Poland wishes to expand links in fields with a lot of potential such as the chemical industry, food processing, the environment and tourism.

Both were pleased with Vietnam and Poland ’s two-way trade turnover in 2008 hitting 600 million USD and the turnover has been growing since the start of this year.

Both parties agreed on the need to boost cooperation further to overcome the difficulties caused by the current global economic decline to develop their potential and support each other when penetrating the ASEAN and EU markets./.
