On April 16, a five-storeyferry, named Sewol, capsized when carrying 476 crew and passengers,mainly high school students, to the popular holiday destination of JejuIsland. The incident has left many people dead and missing.
Minhand the ambassador also discussed other important regional and globalissues. The Deputy PM said that the Vietnamese people have recentlyprotested China’s illegal placement of an oil rig in Vietnam’s waters.However, some extremists took advantage of the situation to causedisturbances and damage property of some enterprises, including those ofRoK investors.
He stressed that the Vietnamese Government hasbeen taking strict measures to prevent and severely punish theviolations, adding that Vietnam is exerting every effort to facilitateand ensure the safety for foreign individuals and businesses operatingin the country.-VNA
