Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc arrived in Boston city, the US state of Massachusettes on August 25 to attend the annual Vietnam Executive Leadership Programme (VELP) at Harvard University.
 
Upon arriving, the deputy PM met with representatives from Vietnamese researchers and students working and studying in the US, who expressed their wish for a favourable working enviroment at home so that they can contribute the most to the national construction and development following their graduation.

The Deputy PM spoke highly of the close bonds and warm feeling of the Vietnamese scientists as well as the overseas Vietnamese community in the US.

He also hailed the recently-established Association of Vietnamese Youth and Student Association in the US , adding that he hopes the organisation will help connect all Vietnamese students in the US so that they can support each other in both studies and lives.

Before travelling to Boston , Phuc met with US Secretary of Justice Eric Holder and Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius in Washington.

He also had working sessions with the US Agency for International Development, the Global AIDS Coordinator, the Federal Drug Policy Coordination Office, and the Washington DC Drug Court.

The deputy PM also had a short stay in New York where he met with staff of the Vietnam Permanent Mission to the United Nations.-VNA
