Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on April 15 received Jonathan Choi, Chairman of the Hong Kong (China)’s Sunwah Group and Sunwah Foundation – a charitable arm of the group that has financed many education and cultural projects in Vietnam.

At the meeting, Choi briefed his host on the operations of the Sunwah Group and Foundation in Vietnam over the past years.

He noted that the group has taken part in many charitable activities in education, healthcare and art in Vietnam as part of efforts in helping the poor and training teachers in remote and mountainous areas.

Notably, the Sunwah Foundation has completed the ULIS-Sunwah Chinese Teaching and Research Centre in the University of Languages and International Studies, creating a venue for Chinese teaching and the study of Confucianism.

Recognising outstanding contributions of Choi as well as the Sunwah Group and Sunwah Foundation, the Deputy PM said he hopes the group will exert more efforts to support the education development in Vietnam, while maintaining the effective operation of the ULIS-Sunwah Centre.-VNA
