Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh on February 22 chaired a meeting to review the preparations for the DPRK-USA Hanoi Summit Vietnam which is slated for February 27-28.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Government Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Defence, Hanoi authorities and other relevant agencies.
Deputy PM Minh assessed that the setting up of security, facility and logistics as well as the media centre to serve the meeting has been implemented promptly with the close coordination of relevant ministries and sectors.
He hailed efforts of ministries, sectors and agencies in the work, asking them to continue strictly realizing the directions by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc during the meeting on February 19.
The Deputy PM affirmed that the second DPRK-USA summit to be held in Vietnam is the among most significant events of the country in 2019, showing that Vietnam is a reliable friend and partner of the international community, and reflecting the active and responsible contributions of Vietnam to international and global issues.
The event is a chance to introduce to international friends the image of the Vietnamese nation and people as well as Hanoi as a city of peace and a favourable destination for investment, trade and tourism with diverse cultural colours and strong Vietnamese cultural identity, he added.
Noting that there are only a few days away from the summit, he asked agencies to promptly complete the preparations with focus on security and safety, ensuring utmost convenience for the meeting.
The Deputy PM also underlined the need to create optimal conditions for foreign reporters to cover the event and related activities in Vietnam.-VNA
