Deputy PM visits Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Supreme Patriarch

Hanoi (VNA) -  Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam on May 18 paid a courtesy visit to Most Venerable Thich Pho Tue, Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) on the occasion of the Buddha’s Birthday Festival 2016.

On behalf of the Party and the State, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam wished Most Venerable Thich Pho Tue, dignitaries and all monks and followers of the VBS to be full of health.

Placing emphasis on the VBS’s close-knit unity with the nation, the Deputy PM hoped that Most Venerable Thich Pho Tue would continue leading the VBS to accomplish all its missions and make positive contributions to the country’s general development as well as the spiritual life of people.

Most Venerable Thich Pho Tue expressed his pleasure at welcoming the Deputy PM and affirmed the VBS would continue standing shoulder to shoulder with the nation, bringing happiness and prosperity to the country and actively taking part in the construction and protection of the country.

In HCM City, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Dinh La Thang visited and congratulated the VBS’ Executive Council in District 3 and the Hue Nghiem Pagoda in District 2 on the occasion.

On behalf of the VBS, Venerable Thich Thien Nhon, Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Council, thanked the Party and State leaders in general and HCM City leaders in particular for the attention given to the VBS in past times and affirmed the VBS’s Executive Council, all dignitaries, monks and followers, both local and overseas, would continue preserving unity and promoting the VBS’ tradition as well as taking part in country-building, social and humanitarian activities.-VNA
