Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Nguyen Thanh Son reiterated the Vietnamese Party and State’s consistent policy to intensify relations with Russia and the desire for more effective bilateral cooperation across fields in the name of national construction and development.

The diplomat made the statements at separate working sessions with First Vice Chairman of the Russian State Duma Ivan Melnikov and Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) Genadi Zuganov in Moscow on March 12 to boost friendship and foreign affairs activities between the two countries.

Vietnam is one of the nations Russia has collaborative relations with, Melnikov said, adding that coordination between the two parliaments has proven effective thanks to annual high-level delegation exchanges and experience sharing in legislative activities.

He proposed the two legislative bodies continue enhancing coordination in the implementation of policies in the priority fields of energy, science, education and defence.

Meanwhile, Zuganov said the establishment of the free trade zone between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union, expected to be signed this year, will help promote the economic, trade and investment cooperation and expand relations between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and political parties in the Eurasian Economic Union.

The two Russian officials affirmed that CPRF leaders continually work to support Vietnamese nationals working in the host society.

They informed that the Russian parliament has determined a list of delegates to attend the 132 nd Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly (IPU-132) slated for March this year in Hanoi .

The CPRF leaders also welcome Vietnamese leaders to participate in the 70 th anniversary of the Victory over Fascism in Russia in early May this year.-VNA
