A delegation of 130 Vietnamese athletes with disabilities will participate in the 8th ASEAN Para Games in Singapore from December 3-9, heard a press conference on November 24 in Hanoi.

Hanoi (VNA) - A delegation of 130 Vietnamese athletes with disabilities will participate in the 8th ASEAN Para Games in Singapore from December 3-9, heard a press conference on November 24 in Hanoi.

The athletes will compete in nine events, including track-and-field, swimming, weight-lifting, badminton, chess, table tennis, football, boccia, and rowing.

The delegation set a target of topping the rankings at this competition, toward conquering the 2016 World Paralympic Games in Brazil, said Vu The Phiet, head of the delegation.

The Vietnam Paralympic support foundation (PARASPORT Vietnam) pledged to provide financial support worth 150 million VND (67,000 USD) for the delegation. 

The ASEAN Para Games is a biannual multi-sport event held after every Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) for ASEAN athletes with physical disabilities. The games are participated by the countries located in Southeast Asia , including Brunei , Cambodia , Indonesia , Laos , Malaysia , Myanmar , the Philippines , Singapore , Thailand , and Vietnam .

The 8 th event held in Singapore is expected to host 3,000 officials and athletes competing in 15 sports.-VNA
