The southern province of Dong Nai will spend 275 billion VND (13.1million USD) between now and 2020 on helping people with disabilitiesbetter their own lives, an official has said.
Director of the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and SocialAffairs Le Thi My Phuong added that Dong Nai has more than 154,000people with disabilities, accounting for 5.6 percent of the province’spopulation.
During the period, it plans to delivermore assistance to the target group, such as conducting earlyorthopaedic surgeries, providing assistive devices, improving access toeducation and creating jobs, she noted.
From 2007 to2012, more than 16,000 people with disabilities in Dong Nai receivedvocational training and found jobs thanks to the help of authorisedagencies and social organisations. Around 5,000 of them was supportedwith assistive devices and rehabilitation aid.-VNA
