Drug traffickers arrested in HCM City, Ha Tinh

Police officers in HCM City’s Tan Binh district have cracked down on an illegal drug trafficking ring, seizing 11kg of drugs of all kinds, it was announced on April 15. ​

HCM City (VNA)- Police officers in HCM City’s Tan Binh district have cracked down on an illegaldrug trafficking ring, seizing 11kg of drugs of all kinds, it was announced on April15.

Following a three-monthinvestigation, police arrested Nguyen Thanh Hung, aged 41 and aresident of Hoc Mon district, who allegedly led the ring.

Hung said he brought the drugs from Cambodiato Vietnam for sale.

After further investigation,police arrested five others and seized relevant items.

On the same day, border guards in the north central province of Ha Tinh province took Kha Van Mun, born in 1992and residing in the Lao province of Bolykhamsay, into custody for transporting 60,000 synthetic drug pills from Laos to Vietnam.

The two cases are under further investigation./.

Nearly 9,000 blood units collected at red spring festival

First launched in 2008 to address post-Tet blood shortages, the festival expanded nationwide in 2010 under the direction of the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign. Over 17 editions, the festival has attracted hundreds of thousands of donors across the nation, with the Hanoi event – hosted by the institute – collecting nearly 120,000 blood units.
