Cairo (VNA) – The Egyptian Nile TV Channel featured Vietnam’s world heritage sites and cultural celebrities recognised by UNESCO in its 30-minute live coverage on November 19.

It was the second time Nile TV has aired a special programme about Vietnam.

In an interview granted to Nile TV, Minister Counsellor Vu Thien of the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt said Vietnam is proud of having three world cultural celebrities honoured by UNESCO, namely national hero Nguyen Trai, great poet Nguyen Du and President Ho Chi Minh.

While highlighting the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh, Thien portrayed him as a great communist, a preeminent national hero and a distinguished international soldier, saying that he had tirelessly fought and dedicated the whole life to the nation and people, and for national independence and freedom and for global peace and justice.

On the occasion of the 100 th birthday of the late President in 1990, UNESCO awarded him the title “Vietnamese hero for national liberation and great man of culture”.

Through the programme, Thien also introduced Vietnam’s cultural and natural landmarks, including Ha Long Bay, Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, Complex of Hue Monuments, Hoi An Ancient City, My Son Sanctuary, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Ho Dynasty Citadel and Trang An Landscape Complex, which are recognised by UNESCO as the world natural and cultural heritage sites.

The programme also featured milestones in Vietnam’s history as well as its outstanding achievements after 30 years of reform.

On the occasion, artist May Mohab who brought Vietnamese water puppetry to the Egyptian audiences was invited to give an interview on Vietnam’s intangible cultural heritage.

According to Thien, the Vietnamese embassy has recently launched a range of diplomatic and cultural activities in the host country, including holding a Vietnam photo exhibition, presenting books to several libraries.

It has also designed a cooperation plan with the government, localities and the media to launch a series of activities within a journey “Following the footsteps of Uncle Ho” in the near future and the coming years.-VNA

A major attraction is a unique “Eight galloping horses” (Bat Ma) sculpture displayed at the To Trinh gemstone booth. Carved from a rare monolithic jade block, the artwork features eight spirited horses racing across golden rice fields. The harmonious blend of pure jade veins and natural golden tones enhances both its aesthetic depth and symbolic meaning, evoking prosperity and abundance associated with Vietnam’s rice civilisation.
