Tokyo (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Vu Hong Nam hasaffirmed that his embassy will work to offer repatriation chances for peoplewith high risks of COVID-19 infection as well as those living in difficultcircumstances.

Talking to the Vietnam News Agency, Nam said that thepandemic has had huge impact on the Vietnamese community in Japan as most ofthem are working in Japan’s small- and medium-sized enterprises which areforced to scale down or even be disrupted.

The situation has led to a surge in the number of Vietnamesecitizens wanting to come back home, he noted.

The embassy, therefore, has carried out a lot of measures tosupport them, he stated, adding that the top priority has been given toensuring people’s health and encouraging them to strictly obey diseaseprevention and control measures.

According to him, to date about 10,000 out of 30,000citizens who had registered to return home have been repatriated.

The embassy is working hard to assist people who areunemployed and have no accommodations by coordinating with charitableorganisations in arranging free accommodations for them.

It will try to repatriate all unemployed workers by thelunar New Year, affirmed Nam./.

Vietnam, US hold 169th repatriation ceremony for American MIA servicemen

At the ceremony, Vietnam handed over four boxes containing remains recovered during recent joint excavations in Hue city, and Quang Tri and Kon Tum provinces. Preliminary forensic analysis on April 15 suggested the remains may belong to US MIAs and they will be sent to Hawaii for further identification.
