Prague (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy in the Czech Republic presented 4,000 medical face masks to the Vietnamese community in the country amidst the developments of COVID-19 pandemic.
The face masks, part of medical equipment provided by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs to support Vietnamese community in central and Eastern European countries, were given to people in crowded places with high risk of COVID-19 infection such as Sapa Trade Centre in Prague and trade centres in border areas of Tachov and Folmava.
According to Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Thai Xuan Dung, in the context of complicated developments of the pandemic, the Vietnamese Embassy hopes to ease difficulties facing Vietnamese people in the country, especially business households.
He advised the community to continue applying preventive measures against COVID-19 pandemic, while strictly follow regulations in the host country in the field, wearing face masks and protecting their health.
On behalf of the Vietnamese community in Tachov, Hoang Van Phu highly valued the gifts, describing it as the attention of the homeland to overseas Vietnamese.
The Czech Republic’s Ministry of Health has reported over 28,000 COVID-19 cases, including more than 400 deaths. Over 18,000 patients have recovered.
During the last weekend, the infection cases reached a record number with 800 cases reported on September 4./.
