Moscow (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Russia held a ceremony on September 26 to pay tribute to President Tran Dai Quang.

Delivering a funeral eulogy, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Ngo Duc Manh recalled the glorious life and revolutionary career of the President, highlighting that he was a loyal Party member and a bright example of dedication to the Party and country’s revolutionary cause.

His image will stay forever in the mind of Vietnamese people and international friends, Manh said.

Writing in the funeral book, the ambassador pledged to work to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia as desired by the President.

Delegations from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association, the Lao and Republic of Korean embassies, and international friends in Russia also came to the Vietnamese Embassy to pay tribute to President Quang.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov wrote that Russia will always remember President Quang as an enthusiastic supporter of the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Secretary of the Russian Veterans’ Association Dmitry Voitko also mourned the death of the Vietnamese leader.

Earlier, Chairman of the Russian Veterans’ Association Nikolai Kolesnik also cabled a message of condolence to Ambassador Manh, expressing his regret over the passing of the President, a loyal friend of Russia who contributed to the Vietnam-Russia friendship.

President Quang passed away at 10:05am on September 21 in Hanoi at the age of 62.

The state funeral for the President began at 7am on September 26 at the National Funeral Hall, 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi.

The memorial service will begin at 7:30am on September 27 at the National Funeral Hall. The burial ceremony will take place from 3:30pm on the same day in the President’s hometown in Quang Thien commune, Kim Son district, Ninh Binh province.

Respect-paying and memorial ceremonies for President Tran Dai Quang have also been held at the Thong Nhat Hall in Ho Chi Minh City and the Hall of the People’s Committee of Kim Son district, Ninh Binh province.

The nation is observing a two-day national mourning on September 26 and 27.–VNA
