Endangered gibbon saved by Kon Tum national park

Chu Mom Ray National Park in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum on August 2 saved a male yellow-cheeked crested gibbon (Nomascus gabriellae), said park deputy director Dao Xuan Thuy.

A man had bought the gibbon from ethnic people to eat. However, the 3kggibbon, which was in a weak condition, was then voluntarily handed overto local authorities.

The province put forward measuresto protect threatened species recently, after two endangered langurswere tortured and killed.

The gibbons were classed as vulnerable by the International Union for Conversation of Nature's Red List of Threatened Species./
