The European Commission (EC) has assigned the German Organisation for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) to launch a project on improving the capacity of clinics in Yen Bai and Thanh Hoa provinces.

The project is provided with 1.5 million EUR as supporting capital from the EC.

An agreement to this effect was signed on October 26 between Ambassador Sean Doyle, Head of the EC delegation to Vietnam and Dr. Guenter Riethmacher, GTZ’s Chief representatives.

Addressing the signing ceremony, German ambassador to Vietnam Rolf Schulze highlighted that the cooperation between the EC and GTZ would help improve the quality of health services in Vietnam.

This is part of a larger 16 million EUR project that got underway in October this year and will last through October 2013 to help improve the capacity of medical facilities in 18 provinces and cities of Vietnam , and increase the quality of health services.

Another similar project funded by Germany is being implemented in three provinces -Thanh Hoa, Yen Bai and Phu Yen - at a total cost of more than 12 million USD (around 8 million EUR)./.
