The Vietnam trade missionin the EU and Belgium-Luxembourg said the lawsuit was filed at theEuropean General Court by the Federation of European Sporting GoodsIndustry (FESI).
Last December, EU members approved the European Commission (EC)’sproposal to extend anti-dumping duties for another 15 months on Vietnamand China ’s leather capped shoes as of January 2010.
In its petition, FESI stated that the EU’s decision was based on aninappropriate investigation and a flawed analysis of the facts, sayingthat the measures only succeed in hurting European businesses andconsumers.
"The decision to go ahead with this action has only been taken afterlong and careful consideration, it is not something we do lightly,"said FESI President Horst Widmann.
EU imposed anti-dumping tariffs on leather capped shoes imported from Vietnam and China since October 2006./.
