EVN provides electricity for Truong Sa archipelago

Hanoi (VNA) – The Electricity ofVietnam (EVN) on July 18 began operating a clean energy and lighting system onTruong Sa (Spratly) archipelago and Platform DK1, and signed a cooperationagreement with the Naval High Command to supply electricity for the archipelagoand the platform.

Duong Quang Thanh, Chairman of the Board ofMembers of the EVN, said that the group’s mission is to bring electricity tofar-flung areas and islands, thus helping boost socio-economic development,maintain defence and protect national sovereignty.

Together with Truong Sa, EVN has to datereceived and operated power supply systems in 10 out of the 12 island districtsacross Vietnam, he stated, adding that it will begin operating the power gridin Con Co island district in central Quang Tri province this year.

[EVN brings electricity to rural areas, islands]


With the cooperation agreement, the groupwill ensure sufficient and continuous supply of electricity for soldiers andpeople on all Truong Sa islands and Platform DK1.

Between now and 2020, the EVN will focus oncompleting projects under the programme supplying electricity for rural andmountainous areas and islands in 2013-2020, ensuring power supply to nearly allrural households.-VNA

Fitch Ratings upgrades Vietnam’s senior secured long-term debt rating to BBB-

The rating for Vietnam’s secured long-term debt was raised to BBB-, equivalent to investment grade, one notch higher than the country’s long-term foreign-currency rating on unsecured debt, which remains at BB+. The upgrade followed Fitch’s review under its revised Sovereign Rating Criteria issued in last September, said the Ministry of Finance.

Vietnam remains Singapore’s third-largest seafood supplier in 2025
