Exchange helps increase Vietnam-US ties

A delegation of teachers and students from the George High School of Pennsylvania state, in the United States is on a visit to exchange cultures and learn about Vietnam .

The current visit to Vietnam will contribute to increasing relations between Vietnam and the US , Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Nguyen Tam Chien said at his meeting with the delegation in Hanoi on June 8.
He briefed the delegation about Vietnam and its US relations, stressing the wish of the Vietnamese people and youth to promote ties with the US , particularly in education, economic trade and humanitarian assistance.

Chien presented the activities of VUFO and the Vietnam-US Association in promoting ties between the Vietnamese people and those of other countries, including the Americans, and encouraged the US youth to support the two countries’ relationship development.

George High School teacher, Cherry Mellor expressed her feelings on the land and people of Vietnam and gave thanks for VUFO’s warm hospitality to her delegation.

She said she asked the Vietnam-US Association arrange friendship trips and voluntary work, such as house painting and cleaning, tree planting in the Vietnam Friendship Village in Hanoi , care for orphans and disabled children in the northern province of Bac Ninh, and in Mai Chau district, in the northern province of Hoa Binh during the Vietnam visit, from June 7-21.

The delegation is scheduled to visit cultural and historical sites in Hanoi , and Quang Ninh and Hoa Binh provinces./.
