Vietnam is half a hemisphere away from Chile – a country in South America. However, the geographical distance has not hindered the development of the relationship between the two countries. Over the past 50 years, their traditional relationship and comprehensive partnership have developed steadily, benefiting the two peoples while contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the two regions.
General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and State President To Lam on September 18 cabled a congratulatory message to Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font on the South American country’s 214th National Day (September 18, 1810 - 2024).
Vietnam attaches importance to further consolidating and developing the traditional friendship with Chile, which was founded by late Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Salvador Allende and has been cultivated by many generations of leaders and people of the two countries over the past five decades, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son said on August 27.
A delegation from the National Assembly (NA), led by Vu Hong Thanh, member of its Standing Committee and Chairman of its Economic Committee, visited Argentina and Chile from July 29 to August 4.
