Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) supports and highly values the Vietnam-Japan extensive strategic partnership, which is developing strongly, comprehensively, and practically, NA Standing Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong has said.

She made the statement in Hanoi on July 11 while receiving a delegation of female Japanese parliamentarians led by Tsuchiya Shinako, member of the House of Representatives of the National Diet and head of the Committee for the Development of Women of the Liberal Democratic Party.

Phong described the visit as one of the pragmatic exchange activities held in 2018 to mark the 45th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties. She added that this year marks an important milestone in the countries’ relationship, with gigantic cooperation achievements obtained in all realms, from politics and economy to culture, education, and people-to-people exchange.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese official extended her deep sympathies to the Government and people of Japan over their serious losses caused by recent floods, expressing her belief that with their resilience, they will overcome this difficulty.

Noting the continuously developing parliamentary ties, NA Vice Chairwoman Phong stated that the exchange of delegations and representatives of agencies at all levels – in particular, the close cooperation between Vietnam-Japan friendship parliamentarians’ group and the Japan-Vietnam friendship parliamentary alliance, as well as the annual exchange between the two countries’ young legislators – has practically contributed to realising the agreements signed by their high-ranking leaders.

She informed her guests that the activities of female Vietnamese parliamentarians have seen significant outcomes in the recent past, noting the exchange of the female Vietnamese NA deputies and their Japanese peers as a new format for the cooperation of the two nations.

She also suggested that Japanese female lawmakers raise their voice in support of the building and issuance of policies and laws that facilitate bilateral collaboration across all fields.

The guests were asked to contribute to creating conditions for the Vietnamese community to lead a stable life in Japan.

For her part, Tsuchiya Shinako revealed that the visit is to consider Vietnam’s preparation for human resources training for overseas Vietnamese in the areas of agriculture, fisheries, and construction.

Expressing her appreciation for the high rate of women operating in socio-political areas in Vietnam, she added that Japan needs to learn from Vietnam in this regard. -VNA
